Story of the 1974 coup that overthrew the right-wing Portuguese dictatorship--which continued the fascist policies of long-time dictator Antonio Salazar--and of two young army captains who were involved in it.

This is the story of two lonely and somewhat similar humans, although one young and one old. First is a thief loser who breaks into the dark and, as he thinks, abandoned apartment on New Year's Eve. The law student Caroline and the assistant professor Tom are husband and wife, but they keep their marriage a secret.
